Düsseldorf, the elegant city on the Rhine, combines cosmopolitan flair with Rhineland joie de vivre. Hardly any other German city offers such a mix of exclusive locations, international lifestyle, and warm openness. It is precisely this diversity that makes Düsseldorf a dream setting for unforgettable weddings.
Heiraten in Düsseldorf - Tips from Wedding Planner Sanela
Im Gespräch mit Sanela von Hochzeitsfein, Expertin für detailverliebte und interkulturelle Hochzeiten in Düsseldorf
For our wedding journal Marrying in Düsseldorf, we spoke with Sanela Ziesmann-Serifov, founder of the agency Hochzeitsfein Wedding Planner. Sanela is a trained wedding planner who plans and accompanies weddings with great passion, empathy, and attention to detail. Her personal experience as a bride, her training as a certified wedding planner, and her background in banking make her an expert who perfectly combines creativity and organizational talent.
She is especially passionate about intercultural weddings, where tradition and modernity harmoniously come together. For Sanela, every wedding is organized as if it were her own, always with the goal that couples can enjoy their special day in peace.

1. Düsseldorf has many facets – what makes the city so unique for you as a wedding backdrop?
Sanela: Düsseldorf is such a unique wedding backdrop because the city offers a rare blend of urban flair, elegant architecture, and romantic retreats. From modern, urban rooftop bars to cozy venues in green spaces, to the elegant castle, the city combines romance, elegance, and creativity! Additionally, Düsseldorf thrives especially on its internationality and cosmopolitan flair, making it particularly versatile and inspiring for the most special day.
2. Which locations in and around Düsseldorf particularly excite you, and do you have any insider tips beyond the classics?
Sanela: There are some locations in Düsseldorf that I particularly like, and the great thing is that there is a suitable location for every bridal couple.
Whether it's the stylish Restaurant Lido in the Medienhafen, the baroque Schloss Benrath from the 18th century, or the idyllic Deichgraf in Südpark.
Secret tips are always difficult to single out, but when searching for the perfect wedding venue, we always try to think outside the box; sometimes your own private garden or estate can turn out to be the perfect wedding backdrop.
3. Which local service providers, florists, musicians, and caterers do you particularly enjoy working with?
Sanela: As a wedding planner, we always have a huge network of service providers with whom we love to work – even outside of Düsseldorf.
The service providers in Düsseldorf are always very professional, high-quality, and heartfelt recommendations, such as Broich Catering, Florist Viktor Breuer, or DJ Vince – just to name a few.
4. Where can brides and grooms in Düsseldorf find the most beautiful wedding dresses and suits?
Sanela: In the fashion city of Düsseldorf, every bride should really find her dream dress when searching! Well attended and with a good selection for every budget, Brautblüte, I am Yours, or also Lillys Brautmoden.

5. Intercultural weddings are especially close to your heart. What tips do you have for couples who want to combine tradition and modernity?
Sanela: I love international weddings! There is nothing more beautiful than when two (or more) cultures come together and make the wedding perfect!
My tip: very important: always celebrate exactly the way you want and feel! Feel free to include a few (newly interpreted) traditions, pay attention to diversity in the catering, and put together the music concept so that both cultures or parties are always integrated and none is left out, then it can only be a dream wedding!
6. What creative ideas have recently inspired you on how couples incorporate their personal story into the celebration?
Sanela: Every bridal couple is unique and has their own personal story.
Beautiful examples are themed weddings; we once had a wedding with a travel theme. We incorporated the entire concept around the continents and countries the couple had visited, the menus were designed as "inflight menus," and personalized luggage tags were given as guest gifts and used for the seating plan.
Or we once had a couple who met while working at a bar, and they wanted to include tequila shots for the guests as a ritual during the ceremony.
7. Trends come and go, what is currently popular for you, and what remains timelessly beautiful?
Sanela: Currently, you see a lot of the "Old money vibe" — a mix of elegance, style, classic nobility, and understated luxury, yet traditional and enduring.
I can very well imagine that this style will continue to prevail in the coming years because it is timeless.
However, classic wedding concepts that are elegant, romantic, and timeless are still frequently requested, such as white-cream-gold color palettes.
We sincerely thank Sanela for her inspiring insights and the many valuable tips about getting married in Düsseldorf. Whether urban by the Rhine, elegant in a villa, or romantic in the surrounding area – couples who want a wedding with personality, heart, and perfect organization will find in Sanela an experienced and creative companion on the way to the big day.
