Packaging – thoughtfully down to the last detail!

Maren Jewellery takes a holistic approach to sustainability. That’s why, from the very beginning, it was important to us not only to think about which materials our jewelry is made from and who makes it, but also how it finds its way to you.

Because even before you hold your new favorite piece in your hands for the first time, it has already been on a little journey. Its packaging protects it along the way — and at the same time is part of that special moment when you unwrap your jewelry for the first time.

You can decide for yourself which packaging you would like. Depending on the piece of jewelry, you can choose between our Paper Case and our reusable Linen Case. That way, you don’t simply automatically receive a specific type of packaging; instead, you can choose the option that suits you best and how you would like to use it later.

Perhaps you would like to reuse your Linen Case afterward to store your jewelry or to take it with you when traveling. Perhaps you prefer the more minimal paper version. For us, having this choice is part of a more conscious approach to packaging: The goal is not as much packaging as possible, but packaging that serves its purpose and suits your needs.

To do this, we choose materials carefully, look into their origin, and work with partners who understand their craft. From the linen to the paper to the shipping box, there are many small decisions and many different hands that help ensure your jewelry arrives safely and lovingly packaged.

The linen for our cases comes from the traditional Vieböck weaving mill in Helfenberg, Austria. Linen has been processed there since 1832 – with knowledge of the material and an understanding of the craft that has been passed down through generations.

For our Linen Cases, we use 100% organic linen in accordance with GOTS guidelines. The linen yarns used come from France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. In Helfenberg, they are woven into fabric and then further finished in Austria. GOTS – the Global Organic Textile Standard – takes ecological and social requirements within the textile processing chain into account. 

What do we especially love about linen? Its natural, understated beauty and its durability. That’s why, for us, the story of your Linen Case doesn’t end with unboxing. You can store your jewelry in it, protect it while traveling, or give the case an entirely new purpose of its own.

A beautiful material alone does not make jewelry packaging. It takes people who use their hands to make something out of it.

Our cases are created in collaboration with the rehabilitation and employment workshop of Lebenshilfe Schweinfurt. Here, craftsmanship is combined with social inclusion as well as work and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

This collaboration is especially close to our hearts. Because when we look at our supply chain, we do not just want to know what something is made of. We are just as interested in where and by whom it is made.

So our cases contain much more than just a beautiful material: craftsmanship, time, and the work of people, before your very own piece of jewelry finally finds its place inside.

Sometimes it doesn’t take soft fabric, but rather paper, a clean shape, and a good idea.

For our Paper Cases, we work together with  Gmund Papier  on Lake Tegernsee. When developing our packaging, one detail was especially important to us: the insert should also be made of paper. Instead of a classic foam insert, a paper-based solution was therefore developed to keep your piece of jewelry securely in place.

Gmund’s approach to resources was also important to us when choosing our partner. With its own  Environmental Charter , the company commits itself to principles in the areas of water, raw materials, waste, and energy. These include, among other things, the repeated treatment and reuse of production water, the recycling of production waste, and the use of its own energy sources. According to Gmund, up to 75 % of its electrical energy comes from its own sources such as hydropower, solar energy, and combined heat and power. 

Gmund Papier is also FSC® certified.This certification is another aspect we take into account when selecting our paper partner. What we especially like about our Paper Case is its reduced design: paper becomes sturdy, high-quality packaging that protects your piece of jewelry while also fitting our clear design language.

It crackles and rustles for just a brief moment before you finally discover your piece of jewelry—and yet the filling and cushioning material also serves an important purpose on its way to you.

Here, we work together with  Natürlich Verpacken . The material creates a protective bed for your Paper Case or Linen Case and helps ensure that your piece of jewelry arrives safely.

For us, materials like these are also part of packaging, which we want to consider as a whole. Because what may only be visible for a few seconds in the end accompanied your piece of jewelry throughout its entire journey beforehand.

Once your piece of jewelry is safely stored in its case, its journey to you begins. And of course, it also needs outer packaging to protect it along the way.

We source our shipping boxes from Biobiene, and they are made from 100% recycled waste paper. To seal them, we also use our custom paper adhesive tape from Biobiene, printed with the Maren Jewellery logo. For the paper adhesive tape we source, production in Germany has been confirmed to us. 

From the box that protects your piece of jewelry in transit to the adhesive tape that seals it, we also want to give thought to the things that quickly fade from view once the package has been opened.

Because they, too, are part of your piece of jewelry’s journey.

Packaging is not just about the things that immediately catch your eye when unboxing. For us, the small details are also part of the bigger picture.

We source our paper labels from Etiket Schiller in Plüderhausen. The adhesive labels we have selected are made of paper, and the adhesive was also carefully considered: Paper and adhesive are suitable for industrial composting according to EN 13432.

That way, even for a small detail like a label, we can rely on a paper-based solution.

Because from the case to the label, one thing applies for us: it is worth taking a closer look.

A gift does not begin only at the moment we see what is hidden inside. It begins a little earlier: with the paper, the ribbon, the rustling — and the anticipation of unwrapping it.

For our wrapping paper, we work together with  Umweltdruck Berlin . Here, print craftsmanship and our minimalist design come together, turning a sheet of paper into the final part of our packaging.

Because especially when a piece of jewelry is given as a gift, the packaging itself should already show: Something special is waiting for you here

"A mindful love" – you'll find this little message on our woven ribbons.

They are made by  Weberei Vollmer  in Wuppertal. The ribbon made for Maren Jewellery is made of 100% cotton. 

We love the idea that this little detail can live on even after unwrapping. Keep the ribbon, reuse it, or wear it with you as a little wish ribbon.

Sometimes, after all, it's precisely the little things we associate with a special memory.

Linen from Austria, our cases from Schweinfurt, paper from Tegernsee, cotton ribbons from Wuppertal, paper labels, shipping boxes, paper tape, and cushioning material: there are more materials, work steps, and people behind Maren Jewellery packaging than you might assume at first glance.

And that is exactly why we take a closer look.

We want to know as precisely as possible where our materials come from, who processes them, and how we can continue to improve our packaging step by step. At the same time, we also know: No packaging comes without materials, energy, and resources.

For us, a more responsible approach therefore does not mean promising perfect packaging. It means choosing materials consciously, creating durable and reusable solutions, making our supply chain as traceable as possible, and continually questioning what we can still do better.

In the end, your packaging should do one thing above all: safely accompany your piece of jewelry on its journey and preserve that special moment when you hold it in your hands for the first time.

And perhaps one or two parts of it will stay with you a little longer after that.
