Necklace Layering - Combine several necklaces with each other

Necklace Layering - Combine several necklaces with each other

When it comes to trends, we have a bit of a hard time at Maren Jewellery. We have already mentioned it in our journal on the topic of Ring Stacking: As a responsible and sustainable company, we are passionate about timelessness and ideas that outlast trends instead of attracting short-lived attention. Nevertheless, we pay attention to chain layering. On the one hand, because the jewelry trend can be easily implemented with already existing jewelry pieces and on the other hand, because it allows to wear several necklaces at the same time. As a jewelry brand, we find it very hard to get enough of different pieces of jewelry coming together to create very individual combinations.

This journal will therefore be about the very different possibilities of chain layering. We want to show you which chains you can use and how several chains can best be worn together. In addition, we share a small tip, how even originally same-length chains can be used as layering chains.

Where did the idea of layering necklaces come from?

In fact, necklace layering is not a new trend. Even though wearing several chains is becoming more and more popular among fashion and style enthusiasts lately, the idea originally comes from a completely different time. Namely, it was punks in the early 80s who started wearing a wide variety of necklaces together. The creative combinations of that time, of course, differ significantly from ours today. However, not least this fact proves how versatile and yet also timeless this trend actually is and can be interpreted.

Which chains are best suited for necklace layering?

IBasically it's quite simple: Whatever you like! This applies to layering necklaces, but also to all other (styling) areas. Trust your taste and get creative. At the same time, there are still some timeless tips that can make it a little easier to implement the trend. And occasionally one or the other of our inspirations might help you to find a sense for your own style.

Combine different chain lengths

It's obvious: the be-all and end-all of chain layering are chains of different lengths. Only if you play with different chain lengths, each individual chain comes into its own. In addition, the more different the lengths, the more you minimize the risk that the chains get tangled with each other. Untangling not only tests your patience, but also poses the risk of damaging your chains and should therefore be avoided at all costs.

1 >
You put both chains around you and turn both clasps to the front.

2 >
Now you simply swap the clasps. That is, you attach the clasp of the first chain to the end of the second and vice versa.

3 >
Then you turn the fasteners back again and voilà: By pulling on one chain, the other is shortened and you can vary the lengths as desired.

The procedure may sound a little abstract in theory, but just try it out. It works and simplifies the implementation of the jewelry trend with your already existing chains enormously.

Are you still looking for something new to bring a breath of fresh air to your jewelry box ? Our sustainable necklaces are ideal for your chain layering. Whether minimalist with our Essential necklace available in different lengths or the slightly wider Bold Essential necklace, or you make a statement for example with our Wild Flowers pendant. It is important to us that our necklaces are easy to combine, timeless and can accompany you for a lifetime.

Bring different metals into play

Although it is still claimed otherwise, gold and silver can and may be worn together without hesitation. If you mix your favorite gold and silver chains with each other, completely new variations arise, which additionally loosen up your chain layering and create a completely new look.

Consciously break styles

Not only with the materials there are no limits to your creativity. Also in the selection of different designs for your personal chain layering you can create individual duos, trios or even quartets and quintets. Decorate your neck and your décolleté as minimalist or diverse as you like. Three plain necklaces of different lengths work just as well as three completely different ones. For example, we really like the mix of large-link chains like our Sunray necklace and more filigree chains with pendants like our Sunbeam pendant. The best thing to do is to try out in front of the mirror whether you like filigree combinations or material mixes with heavy chains, diamonds or pearls better.
