Our commitment to sustainability means that we consciously refrain from using newly mined silver and instead rely on already existing resources. Recycling 925 silver is not only environmentally friendly but also an ethical decision.

We are proud to collaborate with C. Hafner, a great, transparent German refinery that operates in an environmentally friendly and fair manner. This allows us to use high-quality silver without burdening the environment while ensuring that the people involved in this process are treated fairly.

The use of recycled silver gives our jewelry a very special aura. Each piece tells a story and has already been on a journey before it comes to you. This unique combination of sustainability and beauty makes our jewelry something truly special.

This is how your silver jewelry stays shiny

Even though our jewelry is made from the highest quality 925 sterling silver and shines beautifully, it requires regular care to maintain its luster for a lifetime. Regular cleaning of your silver jewelry helps preserve its value and brilliance. In our journal, we show you how to do this easily.

Are you a gold or silver jewelry type?

Gold or silver? Both jewelry colors are beautiful and true eye-catchers, but you may not be sure which metal color suits you or your outfit better. We have compiled the advantages of both alloys in a journal for you that can help you make a decision.

Silver does not have to mean against gold!

Sometimes, there doesn't have to be a decision for or against something; sometimes both can work together. Silver jewelry and gold jewelry can be wonderfully combined and put together to create interesting and individual bicolor looks. In our journal, you can learn more about this styling idea!

Frequently Asked Questions about Silver Jewelry

What are the benefits of recycling silver?

Just like with recycled gold, the extraction and consumption of new, finite resources is prevented with 925 recycled silver as well. Silver is already present in many production waste or no longer needed goods and can be recycled for reuse. The melting of silver can also be done without loss, making recycled silver a sustainable method to protect both people and the environment and to utilize what is already available. Since silver is usually mined together with gold, the advantages of recycled silver are clear: no miners have to expose themselves to life-threatening and health-damaging risks, and our environment is preserved. The recycling process for silver consumes 7-14 times less CO2 than newly mined silver. Additionally, recycling silver can prevent tons of toxic mining waste from entering our water, displacing communities due to mining activities, or deforesting areas that are important for our biodiversity.

How is the silver from Maren Jewellery recycled?

Also, the 925 sterling silver that we use for our jewelry is sourced from our partner, the C Hafner refinery, using a silver recycling process. Just like with gold, we continuously collect all our silver scraps that arise during the production of our jewelry pieces through polishing, filing, or casting, and hand them over to C Hafner so that they can be melted down with other refining material into 925 sterling silver. For this, the refining material is also melted down until it homogenizes and can be cast into bars. Samples are then taken from these bars, which are quartered with lead. The lead absorbs the precious metals in the crucible, only to evaporate in the heat, leaving behind the precious metal grain. This grain is then hammered and rolled and dissolved in aqua regia so that it can be separated from other precious metals and processed as recycled 925 sterling silver into our jewelry pieces.
