From hand to handcraft
The craft of jewellery is our great passion. That is why it is particularly important to us that all our partners are just as passionate about raw materials and sustainability as we are. Because the jewellery we design can only be as good as the materials we use as a foundation - and therefore as good as our partners.
Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC)
But: We are particularly committed to ensuring that our partners not only deliver excellent results, but that the way they do so - working conditions, fair wages and a responsible approach to nature - is also in line with our values. That is why we are pleased that three of our partners we are introducing to you today are RJC certified. This is a voluntary inspection of environmental friendliness, working conditions, human rights and mining - all to ensure that the jewellery we produce together is truly beautiful.
18 carat Recycling Gold
Most of our jewellery is made of gold. You can read about gold and why we chose recycled gold here And we are incredibly happy that withC. Hafner we have a partner who cares about sustainable gold just as much as we do: C. Hafner gold is not only CO2 neutral, but also 100 percent recycled. Just like us at Maren Jewellery, our Pforzheim-based partner sees itself above all as responsible for setting new standards and standing up for what it believes in: the protection of nature, fair working conditions and beautiful gold that no longer harms the earth. Thanks to the remarkable, RJC-certified work of C. Hafner, we too can say: Gold cannot get any more beautiful.
Synthetic Eco Diamonds
The raw material that we use second most often is our diamonds. Instead of buying newly-mined diamonds, of which we often cannot say anything for sure about where they come from, whether nature and humans are affected in the procurement process, we have opted for cultivated diamonds. If you want to learn more about this, then take a look here.
With the gold from C. Hafner and the synthetic eco diamonds that we source from Swiss Diamond Vision and Diamond Foundry , many of our jewellery pieces can already be made - our pendants and rings. Because: we don't just focus on clarity in design, but also in the selection of our raw materials. But what about ear studs? Here we had to search for a long time to find a partner who produces the so-called ear backs in the Maren Jewellery way: sustainably, fairly and responsibly. Because most of the ear backs are produced in Asian countries without being able to make sure who exactly produces them and under what conditions. With Hoover & Strong, we have found a partner that leaves no questions unanswered. Everything they produce, they make with 100 percent recycled precious metals in the best, responsible conditions in America - and it's all RJC-certified. So now we have the raw materials for pendants, rings and stud earrings. But what about chains?
Our Essential Necklace
That's where Schofer comes in. A Pforzheim-based production facility for wonderfully delicate chains. Schofer makes the reduced Essential necklace for us from 18-carat recycled gold. This is an incredibly delicate necklace - and we are more than happy to have found a partner who has the technical knowledge and expertise to make it exactly as we imagined. We are also very pleased that Schofer is RJC certified
Our Seeds of Love Necklace
Because we wanted to offer our Seeds of Love necklaces made of recycled 925 sterling silver, there was only one choice for us: Fischer. A company from Idar-Oberstein whose values are as reliable as the materials they process - and have been for over 70 years. But above all: they are just as demanding as we are. An artisan company that takes the production of our necklaces as seriously as if they had designed them themselves. Designing jewellery can be like a puzzle now and then. We know what materials we need to make jewellery. But where do we find them? Sometimes we are unlucky and they just don't exist. For example: Sustainable chain fasteners. But for just such cases we have our workbench. That's why we sat down and designed them ourselves. So we have the raw materials for: Rings, pendants and earrings. We even have everything for necklaces. But raw materials are not pieces of jewellery. That's why we still need a foundry to shape our gold and silver into the right form.
Kauselmann is a foundry that refrains entirely from mining gold and produces in Pforzheim. And its principles are clear: no inhumane working conditions, no environmental pollution, no child labour in the extraction of gold. That is why the foundry has also decided to use paper bags instead of shipping their castings in plastic bags - as is usually the case. This saves them several million plastic bags! But where they do not save: Jewellery of the best quality, made to fit exactly according to our specifications. But the pure casting is not yet a finished piece of jewellery. Now it has to be polished.
Our polishing company
And Vasco does some of that for us. A traditional polishing company with a clear foundation: Made in Germany. This has always stood for quality, conscientious craftsmanship and short delivery routes. Since 1986, raw jewellery has been transformed in Pforzheim into what we love so much: shiny, profound jewellery of inestimable value.
Our jewel setting master
We briefly review: Our gold and silver was cast and polished. Ear backs were attached to the ear studs. Our necklaces have been made. And we have synthetic eco diamonds. But how do the diamonds become part of the jewellery? For that, there is master gem-setter Wilhelm Kling. A traditional company from Pforzheim that has been pursuing its craft since 1875. That's 145 years of experience. Experience that convinces many well-known customers. Every move here is perfect, as every Maren Jewellery customer can confirm.
The final view
Now they are all waiting for us on the workbench: the necklaces and rings, bracelets and earrings. And we wouldn't be Maren Jewellery if we didn't put our hands on them once again ourselves. After all, it's what we love, what excites and fascinates us: The search for the perfect piece of jewellery. We take care of the final polishing and quality control, and of course we work in an environmentally friendly way - without toxic chemicals, which is why we use citric acid instead of toxic acids for our pickle, for example. Therefore you can be sure: Each of our jewellery pieces passes through many conscientious hands, is looked at by many expert eyes and gets exactly what it needs to be one: Your new favourite piece.
