Sustainable engagement rings
Sustainable engagement rings are more than pieces of jewelry – they are a conscious choice of recycled materials, transparent production, and timeless design as a modern alternative to classic engagement rings. They are made without newly mined gold and are the ideal choice if you are looking for an engagement ring that combines aesthetics and sustainability.
Our sustainable engagement rings are made from recycled 18 karat gold, meaning no additional gold has to be mined. For the setting, we use synthetic diamonds, which are produced under controlled conditions and meet the highest quality standards.
This creates an engagement ring that not only symbolizes your love and connection to the earth but also relies on transparent materials and responsible craftsmanship. Discover our sustainable engagement rings made from recycled gold and lab diamonds.

Frequently asked questions about engagement rings
What is a sustainable engagement ring?
A sustainable engagement ring is a highly symbolic ring made from sustainable Fair Trade or recycled metals under mindful and responsible standards, and it is of high-quality, long-lasting craftsmanship. If it is set with gemstones, these should be fairly traded, certified, and traceable, or grown directly in a laboratory. In addition, it should have been produced under fair and humane working conditions. Since jewellery is always handmade, low prices can indicate that either children were employed or workers were not paid fairly. It is therefore very important to inform yourself thoroughly about how it is made. Sustainable companies will answer every question openly and transparently.
Are sustainable engagement rings just as high-quality as classic engagement rings?
Yes, sustainable engagement rings are every bit the equal of classic designs in terms of quality and design. Thanks to modern production methods such as synthetic diamonds, they even offer additional benefits in transparency and sustainability.
Which hand do you wear the engagement ring on?
In Germany, the engagement ring is traditionally worn on the left hand, as it is considered the "heart hand". After the wedding, it is often moved to the right hand together with the wedding ring or worn as a stacking ring. Which option is right for you depends entirely on your personal style and wedding ring concept. In our journal, we take a closer look at the question: 'Which Hand Is the Right One for the Engagement Ring?'
What should I look for when buying a sustainable diamond engagement ring?
An engagement is a deeply emotional and personal moment of love, symbolically captured forever by the engagement ring. For many people, it is therefore important when choosing an engagement ring that it does justice to the preciousness of the moment and the love it represents, so they look for a ring with gemstones. It is essential to make sure that the gemstones in the engagement ring are fairly traded, certified, and traceable, or artificially grown in a laboratory. From a size of 0.5 carat upwards, the diamond should come with an official certificate, as is also the case with the synthetic diamonds at Maren Jewellery. In addition, gemstones should be assessed according to the 4 Cs in order to determine the quality of the stones and therefore of the entire piece of jewellery.
How do I find out the ring size for an engagement ring?
The easiest way to find out the ring size for an engagement ring is if you already have a ring from your partner that fits them well on the relevant finger and can use it as a reference. On every Maren Jewellery product page, next to the size selection field, you will find our Size Guide available for download or printing, where you can simply compare the ring with our circle templates and determine the size you need. The sizes shown correspond to the inner circumference of the ring.
If you do not have a suitable ring to hand, you can find out the ring size by cutting out our measuring tape from the Size Guide and making a cut along the dotted line. Then all you need to do is place the measuring tape around your partner's finger and read off the ideal ring size.
Is it safe to order an engagement ring online?
In itself, it is perfectly safe to order engagement rings or other high-quality goods online, as long as you do so from trustworthy sellers. When shopping online, always make sure you can trace where the piece of jewellery and, if applicable, the diamond in your ring come from. Reputable retailers welcome your contact, can always answer your questions transparently, and are happy to share every detail with you in order to advise you as best as possible on your online purchase. A particular advantage of buying your engagement ring online is that, regardless of store opening hours, you can take your time to get a careful overview of the information and details that matter to you. And if, in the end, you are still not satisfied with your choice, you can always make use of your 2-week right of return.
